Pay a visit to the Mauritius Aquarium to discover the exotic marine life of the Mauritian lagoon.
The Mauritius Aquarium offers you an authentic experience of marine discovery! Situated in the small coast village of Pointe aux Piment in the North West of Mauritius, the aquarium is home to a number of marine life including sharks, giant moray eels, butterfly fish, the crown squirrel fish, clown fish, lobsters, crabs and sea turtles. It is about 20 minutes drive from Grand Baie. The aquarium is a favourite among kids and a chance to get up close to the wild animals.
Walk through the five, well laid buildings of the aquarium and discover the rich aquatic life which inhabits the crystal clear waters of the Mauritian lagoon. The aquarium has adopted an ecologically-friendly system, known as closed system, which involves the treatment and recycling of seawater in the circuit linking the tanks, thus minimizing the environmental impact of their operations.
Mauritius Aquarium Fish Feeding
The feeding time for the fishes is daily at 11.00 am where you will have the opportunity to watch impressive animals like sharks, tortoises and morays getting feed at this specific time. Guided tours are not available in the aquarium but if ever you have questions, you can ask one of the six staff members. Furthermore, you will find a small souvenir shop and a snack bar with different lunch offers and drinks.
The aquarium is a great place for kids to visit and learn about the lovely aquatic creatures and tropical fish that reside in our lagoon. There is also a special touch pool for children to experience direct contact with some of the species in the aquarium. It is a fun way to spend quality time with the family while ensuring that the children enjoy themselves too!
